"Death Valley: The Revenge of Bloody Bill"

A drug deal gone wrong, a rowdy group of college kids, and a long-lost, unmarked ghost town.. does this sound fun yet?

Well, if so, don't get your hopes up, because "The Revenge of Bloody Bill" isn't much to behold.

Apparently, way back in the good ol' days, there was a varmint called Bloody Bill. The back of the DVD case says he's a murderer, but the movie is pretty vague about his crimes. His sister was hanged as a witch, and he vowed revenge on the townsfolk - or did he vow revenge moments before the mob of furious townsfolk murdered him? The movie gives both versions without clarifying which one is 'accurate'. He cursed the people, saying he would "drag them down to Hell with him" - but when our bumbling idiot students arrive, they find a town full of zombies.

Wait, what? No, it doesn't get better. That's pretty much it: a handful of zombie extras, a mostly incoherent plotline, and a main villain with no clear motivation or method of destruction. One by one the kids are picked off, predictably, the only notable death being that of a young woman whose body appears first on a porch, then in a tree, with no clear reason why or how it moved.

While the movie itself is pretty bad, there are some good points. The acting is higher quality than most other films of this calibre despite a hackneyed and awkward script, and the zombie makeup almost makes up for their inexplicable presence in the first place.

This would be a great movie to watch second or third on a marathon night with friends.. and booze. You want to be distracted enough to ignore the gaping plot holes and inconsistencies, or it will drive you nuts. Enjoy it for the cute female lead and decent-looking zombie cowboys, but don't expect anything more.
